P Shot UK | Priapus Shot by the UK’s Official P Shot Trainer

This page has been written and medically reviewed by Dr Shirin Lakhani MBBS MRCGP DRCOG, GMC-registered doctor (GMC No. 4634863), founder of Elite Aesthetics, and one of the UK’s only certified P Shot Trainers.

When you choose Elite Aesthetics for the P Shot, you are not being treated by a practitioner who attended a weekend training course. You are being treated by the doctor other UK clinics come to for their training.

Dr Shirin Lakhani is one of the UK’s only officially certified P Shot Trainers, authorised by the Cellular Medicine Association, the international body founded by Dr Charles Runels, who invented and trademarked the Priapus Shot. That certification is not available to every clinic that offers the treatment. It requires demonstrated clinical expertise, a verified track record, and recognition by the organisation that sets the global standard for the procedure.

At Elite Aesthetics in Greenhithe, Dartford, Kent (22 minutes from London by train), every P Shot is performed by Dr Shirin or a doctor she has personally trained, using an FDA-approved centrifuge and a double-spin protocol that produces a significantly higher platelet concentration than standard single-spin methods used at most UK clinics.

What Is the P Shot (Priapus Shot)?

The P Shot, formally known as the Priapus Shot, is a non-surgical regenerative treatment that uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) drawn from your own blood. PRP is rich in growth factors, naturally occurring proteins that support tissue repair, stimulate new blood vessel formation, and promote nerve regeneration.

When injected into targeted areas of the penis, these growth factors may:

  • Support blood vessel function and increase circulation to erectile tissue
  • Improve tissue quality and elasticity in the corpora cavernosa
  • Promote nerve fibre renewal and enhance sensitivity
  • Reduce fibrous plaque associated with Peyronie’s disease
  • Support skin quality in conditions such as penile lichen sclerosus

Because the treatment uses your own biological material, there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. No synthetic drugs, no implants, no general anaesthetic.

The Science Behind the P Shot

The regenerative effects of PRP are driven by a combination of growth factors that have been studied in orthopaedics, wound healing, and dermatology for decades. In the context of male sexual health, the most relevant mechanisms are:

Angiogenesis PRP stimulates the formation of new capillary networks within penile tissue. More blood vessels means improved circulation to the structures that drive erection quality.

Collagen and elastin production Growth factors encourage structural protein production inside the corpora cavernosa, the spongy erectile chambers. Stronger tissue supports firmness and function.

Neurogenesis PRP growth factors support nerve fibre repair and renewal. For men who have experienced reduced sensitivity due to age, surgery, or medication, this is often where the most meaningful changes occur.

Anti-inflammatory action PRP has well-established anti-inflammatory properties. For patients with Peyronie’s disease or penile lichen sclerosus, this may help reduce plaque formation and tissue scarring.

The key growth factors involved include PDGF (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor), VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor), TGF-b (Transforming Growth Factor), EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor), and FGF (Fibroblast Growth Factor).

Conditions the P Shot May Help

Erectile Dysfunction

The most common reason men enquire about the P Shot. Erectile dysfunction affects an estimated 50% of men aged 40-70 in the UK. Causes include:

  • Vasculogenic (cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, raised cholesterol)
  • Neurogenic (multiple sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, spinal injuries, diabetes-related nerve damage)
  • Hormonal (low testosterone, thyroid dysfunction, high cortisol levels)
  • Anatomical (Peyronie’s disease, structural changes)
  • Post-surgical (following prostate, rectal, or bladder cancer treatment)
  • Lifestyle-related (smoking, excessive alcohol, recreational drug use, certain medications)

Men with mild to moderate vascular-related ED tend to respond most consistently. The P Shot supports the underlying physiology rather than simply masking symptoms, making it a meaningful option for men who prefer not to rely on daily medication.

Peyronie’s Disease

Peyronie’s disease causes fibrous scar tissue (plaque) to form inside the penis, leading to curvature, pain, and in some cases difficulty with intercourse. It affects an estimated 1 in 10 men in the UK. The anti-inflammatory and tissue-remodelling properties of PRP may help reduce plaque size and soften affected tissue over time. A dedicated P Shot Peyronie’s protocol is available at Elite Aesthetics.

Reduced Sensitivity and Sensation

Many men notice a gradual reduction in penile sensitivity over time, affecting sexual confidence and satisfaction. The neurogenic properties of PRP, its ability to support nerve fibre renewal, make the P Shot a considered option in these cases.

Penile Lichen Sclerosus

A chronic inflammatory skin condition causing thinning, scarring, and irritation. Early evidence suggests the anti-inflammatory action of PRP may help manage symptoms and support skin quality. Dr Shirin Lakhani has treated a significant number of patients with penile lichen sclerosus, with meaningful improvement in symptoms reported. A dedicated lichen sclerosus protocol is available.

Premature Ejaculation

Where a physiological component is identified, the P Shot may offer benefit for premature ejaculation by improving tissue responsiveness and nerve function. Suitability is assessed individually at consultation.

Delayed Ejaculation

Where delayed ejaculation has a vascular or neurological component, PRP therapy may be considered alongside other interventions. A thorough medical assessment is essential.

Post-Surgical and Post-Cancer Treatment Changes

Men who have undergone prostate surgery, pelvic radiotherapy, or cancer treatment often experience lasting changes to erectile function and sensitivity. The P Shot may support tissue recovery and improve responsiveness in these cases. Dr Shirin takes a careful, individually assessed approach with post-surgical patients.

Who Is Most Likely to Benefit?

The P Shot is not the right answer for every man, and at Elite Aesthetics we will tell you honestly at consultation whether it is appropriate for your situation.

Men most likely to see meaningful results: – Mild to moderate erectile dysfunction, particularly where a vascular component is involved – Men who have not responded fully to PDE5 inhibitors (Viagra and similar medications) or who prefer to avoid ongoing medication – Active Peyronie’s disease, particularly in the earlier stages – Reduced sensitivity with no underlying severe nerve damage – Generally good overall health, non-smokers, blood pressure and diabetes well-controlled

Men less likely to benefit: – Severe ED with no response to any medication or devices – Long-standing uncontrolled diabetes or severe vascular disease – Significant nerve injury from trauma or surgery – Active infection or uncontrolled inflammatory condition in the treatment area

This honest assessment is part of every consultation with Dr Shirin. If the P Shot is not the right fit, she will say so and advise on alternatives.

What Happens During Your P Shot Appointment

The entire appointment takes less than one hour. There is no need to arrange cover at work and no visible signs of treatment afterwards.

Stage 1 Preparation and comfort (10 minutes) A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area, followed by a penile nerve block as part of our standard protocol. This ensures maximum comfort throughout the procedure. Most patients describe the overall experience as mild pressure rather than pain.

Stage 2 Blood collection (5 minutes) A small blood sample, similar in volume to a routine blood test, is taken from your arm. This is the only needle near your arm rather than the treatment area.

Stage 3 PRP processing (15 minutes) The blood sample is placed in our FDA-approved medical-grade centrifuge. We use a double-spin protocol that concentrates platelets to a significantly higher level than standard single-spin methods. The quality of PRP directly affects the growth factors available for treatment. Not all clinics use FDA-approved centrifuges. Not all use a double-spin. At Elite Aesthetics, both are standard.

Stage 4 PRP extraction (5 minutes) Dr Shirin or one of her personally trained doctors prepares the concentrated PRP, calibrating the volume and injection sites based on your individual assessment and treatment goals.

Stage 5 Targeted injections (10 minutes) The PRP is administered using ultra-fine needles. The numbing and nerve block ensure most patients experience only mild sensation. The injection protocol is precise, typically four to five placements depending on the individual treatment plan.

Stage 6 Aftercare briefing Your treating doctor reviews your aftercare directly after treatment. Where clinically appropriate, guidance on using a medical-grade vacuum device at home is provided during the recovery phase to support blood flow to the treated area. Please note the vacuum pump is not included in the treatment price and is purchased separately. Our patient coordinator will contact you by phone or message the next working day to check how you’re feeling after treatment and answer any questions.

What to Expect Results Timeline

The P Shot works through a biological process that unfolds over weeks and months. Results are not instant, but they are progressive.

Week 1-2: The treated area settles. Some patients notice mild initial sensitivity. There are typically no visible signs that a procedure has taken place. Most men can resume sexual activity after four to five days.

Week 4: Many patients begin to notice early improvements. Sensitivity often increases noticeably, and some men report stronger morning erections as the angiogenic process takes effect. A follow-up is included at this stage.

Weeks 8-12: For most patients this is when the most significant changes become apparent, with improvements in erection quality, firmness, sensitivity, and confidence. Patients with Peyronie’s disease may begin to notice a reduction in curvature or discomfort.

12 months and beyond: Results from the P Shot typically last 12-18 months, though this varies between individuals depending on age, general health, and the underlying cause of the concern. Many men choose an annual session to sustain their outcomes.

For more severe cases of ED or Peyronie’s disease, a course of 2-3 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart may deliver better outcomes than a single session. Dr Shirin will advise on the appropriate protocol at consultation.

How Does the P Shot Compare to Other Options?

Treatment Cost Type Results in Downtime Duration
P Shot (EA) From £995 Autologous PRP 4-12 weeks None 12-18 months
P Shot Plus (FDA centrifuge + double spin) From £1,500 Autologous PRP 4-12 weeks None 12-18 months
P Shot + Bocox From £2,700 PRP + Bocox 4-12 weeks None 12-18 months
PDE5 Inhibitors (oral medication) Ongoing Synthetic Immediate None 4-6 hours
Low-Intensity Shockwave Therapy £500/session Mechanical 2-3 weeks None Up to 2 years
Penile Implant £8,000-£15,000 Surgical Immediate 4-6 weeks 10+ years

The P Shot addresses underlying tissue health rather than temporarily masking symptoms. For men who cannot tolerate or no longer respond to PDE5 inhibitors, or who prefer a natural approach, it represents a meaningful alternative. It may also be used alongside medication or lifestyle changes for enhanced results.

Maximising Your Results Lifestyle Factors

The P Shot works with your own biology. Men who optimise their general health alongside treatment consistently report better outcomes. Before and after your procedure, it is worth addressing:

  • Cardiovascular health blood pressure and cholesterol levels directly affect penile blood flow
  • Blood sugar control uncontrolled diabetes impairs vascular and nerve function throughout the body
  • Smoking cessation smoking is one of the most significant contributors to vascular ED
  • Testosterone levels low testosterone can limit the regenerative response; Dr Shirin offers bioidentical hormone therapy for men with confirmed hormonal deficiency
  • Weight and exercise maintaining a healthy weight reduces cardiovascular risk and supports hormonal balance
  • Alcohol and recreational drugs both impair vascular function and can blunt treatment response
  • Sleep and stress cortisol and poor sleep quality directly affect testosterone levels and erectile function

If any of these factors are relevant to your situation, Dr Shirin will address them as part of your consultation. At Elite Aesthetics we treat the whole picture, not just the presenting symptom.

What Does the Evidence Say?

Research into PRP therapy for male sexual health is a growing and developing field. The most robust study to date is a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial by Poulios et al. (2021), published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, which found clinically significant improvement in erectile function scores at six months in men receiving PRP injections compared with placebo.

Earlier studies suggest PRP supports vascular and tissue health, important factors in erectile function, with a favourable safety profile and no major adverse events reported in current literature.

As with any developing treatment area, results vary between patients and outcomes depend on the underlying cause of the condition. Dr Shirin discusses realistic expectations openly at every consultation before any commitment is made. The P Shot is best considered as part of a broader treatment plan rather than a guaranteed cure.

Who Should Not Have the P Shot

The following patients are not suitable candidates and will be advised accordingly at consultation:

  • Active genital infection treatment must be delayed until fully resolved
  • Bleeding disorders or conditions affecting platelet count or function
  • Current anticoagulant therapy (warfarin, clopidogrel) unless safely paused under medical supervision
  • Active cancer treatment in the pelvic region
  • Known allergy to local anaesthetic
  • Penile implants or prosthetic devices
  • Active prostate cancer or history of penile cancer

If you are unsure whether any of the above applies to you, the consultation is the right place to discuss it. There is no obligation to proceed at any stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the P Shot treat? The P Shot may help with erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, penile lichen sclerosus, reduced sensitivity, premature ejaculation, delayed ejaculation, and age-related changes in sexual performance. Post-surgical patients, including those who have undergone prostate treatment, may also be considered on an individual basis. All suitability is assessed during a consultation at Elite Aesthetics, Greenhithe, Dartford, Kent.

What is the P Shot? The P Shot (Priapus Shot) is a non-surgical treatment using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) drawn from your own blood. Growth factors in the PRP are injected into targeted areas of the penis to support blood vessel function, tissue quality, nerve renewal, and sensitivity. It was developed by Dr Charles Runels and is now performed worldwide by doctors trained and certified by the Cellular Medicine Association.

How many sessions do I need? All P Shot treatments at Elite Aesthetics are performed by Dr Shirin Lakhani or a doctor she has personally trained and certified in the technique. Most patients require one treatment per year. Because Elite Aesthetics uses an FDA-approved centrifuge with a double-spin protocol to maximise platelet concentration, a single session typically delivers excellent results for mild to moderate presentations. For more severe ED or Peyronie’s disease, 2-3 sessions spaced 4-8 weeks apart may be recommended. Dr Shirin will advise on the appropriate protocol at consultation.

Is the P Shot safe? The treatment uses your own platelet-rich plasma there is no risk of rejection or allergic reaction. It is performed by a GMC-registered doctor or a doctor personally trained by her, in a CQC-regulated clinic. As with any injection, bruising, swelling, and mild discomfort are possible and typically resolve within 24-72 hours. All risks are discussed fully before treatment. Our patient coordinator follows up with every patient by phone or message the next working day after treatment.

Is the P Shot available on the NHS? No. The P Shot is a private treatment not currently available on the NHS. Elite Aesthetics is located in Greenhithe, Dartford, Kent, 22 minutes from London St Pancras by train. 0% finance is available.

Does the P Shot hurt? The procedure is performed under topical numbing cream and a penile nerve block, both included as standard in our protocol. Most patients describe the experience as mild pressure. The treating doctor’s background in precision injection technique is designed to minimise discomfort throughout.

How long does the P Shot last? Results typically last 12-18 months, depending on age, overall health, and the underlying condition. Many men choose an annual maintenance session. Two follow-up appointments at 4 and 12 weeks are included as standard, each valued at £100, to ensure you’re getting the best possible results.

Can the P Shot increase size? Some patients report a temporary increase in girth following treatment, related to tissue quality improvements and increased blood flow. This is not the primary purpose of the procedure and size-related outcomes are not guaranteed. The main focus of the P Shot is function, circulation, and tissue health.

Can the P Shot help Peyronie’s disease? Yes. The anti-inflammatory and tissue-remodelling properties of PRP may help reduce plaque size and soften affected tissue over time. Some patients find that a course of 2-3 treatments combined with a traction protocol offers additional benefit for significant curvature. Outcomes vary and are discussed candidly at consultation.

How much does the P Shot cost in the UK? At Elite Aesthetics, the P Shot starts from £995. The P Shot Plus, using a double-spin protocol and FDA-approved centrifuge, starts from £1,500. 0% finance is available. Call 01322 381 205 or WhatsApp us for details.

Can I drive home afterwards? Yes. Only local anaesthetic is used and there is no sedation. You can drive, return to work, and resume normal daily activities immediately.

Can the P Shot be combined with other treatments? Yes. The P Shot is often combined with Bocox for improved blood flow as the P Shot 100 protocol. Combining treatments can enhance outcomes for patients with more complex presentations. Dr Shirin will advise on the best approach for your individual situation.

What is the aftercare for the P Shot? Most men resume normal activity the same day. Sexual activity is typically fine after four to five days. Where clinically appropriate, your doctor will advise on using a medical-grade vacuum device at home to support recovery (note: the pump is purchased separately and is not included in the treatment price). Our patient coordinator will call or message you the next working day to check in, and two follow-up appointments are included as standard at 4 and 12 weeks.
